FOR YOUR RIGHTS
Alberta’s auto insurance system is set to change. This change will not benefit you, but it will benefit the insurance companies.
Alberta’s UCP government has committed to upending Alberta’s auto insurance system and implementing no-fault insurance — called “Care First” — on January 1, 2027. This scheme will strip you of your right to sue a reckless driver who causes harm to you or your loved ones, and will hand the power to insurance companies to control what care you receive, and for how long.
This isn’t about reducing costs or improving care. It’s about protecting insurance company profits at the expense of injured Albertans. While billion-dollar insurance companies get richer, you lose your voice, your rights, and your freedom to decide what is right for you and your family.
Don’t let them. It’s not fair, and it’s not the Alberta way. Join us to stop Care First before it’s too late.
THE UCP ISN’T LISTENING
The government isn’t listening to Albertans. They think they know better than you what is right for you and your families.
But Albertans have spoken. Loudly. Over the past two years, tens of thousands of us from all corners of the province have said the same thing: we don’t want no-fault insurance; we don’t trust insurance companies to look out for our best interests; and we don’t want reckless drivers to escape responsibility for the harm they cause.
The government’s own numbers say the same thing. In a survey commissioned by the UCP in June 2024, 73% of Albertans said that keeping the right to sue after an accident was important (that number rose to 75% in a similar May 2025 survey conducted by the Canadian Bar Association), and just 40% said they trusted their insurer to provide appropriate support, care, and treatment.
Despite all this, the UCP is plowing ahead, ignoring public opinion, expert opinions, and basic accountability. Instead of listening to Albertans, they’re listening to the insurance industry who only care about their bottom line. You should have the freedom to choose what’s best for you and your family—not have it dictated by politicians or corporate lobbyists.
The government isn’t listening. It’s time to make them.
ADDING INSULT TO INJURY
The UCP’s Care First insurance scheme strips away the rights of Albertans and hands sweeping control over your recovery to the very insurance companies whose profits depend on denying you the care you need.
If you’re injured in an accident, you will lose the right to sue the at-fault driver for compensation. Instead, you’ll be forced to rely on your insurance company to decide what care you receive and for how long you receive it. These decisions won’t be made by you; they won’t be made by a judge, they won’t be subject to independent review, and you’ll have no meaningful way to challenge them. This isn’t justice. It’s a blank cheque for insurance companies — signed by the Alberta government, and paid for by you.
Ask yourself: do you trust your insurance company to put your family’s well-being ahead of their bottom line? We don’t.
